The twins are two!

28 December 2016

It's been a busy month: We celebrated the twins' 2nd birthday, Kyler was busy with a few fun school projects before his break, Jared has been busy at work, and I've been keeping busy with working from home for Alva Baby. This month we: went to many family/friend/church get-togethers, saw the temple sq Christmas lights multiple times, and….we all got the stomach bug (except Jared).

I have twin TWO year olds!!

They are the cutest toddlers in the whole world!! Their 2 year checkup is next week so I don't have their exact stats but I think Lyla is about 24 lbs, and Ryan is about 22 lbs. Lyla is a good inch taller.  They both have been late teethers and now have 12 teeth each. They should have about 20 by age 3 so it will be another year full of teething. They RUN, jump, climb, and get into everything! They play (and fight) really well together. They follow each other around the house and tend to stick together at all times. Neither are huge talkers, but are learning new words everyday.

The most noticeable change look wise for Lyla this year is that she (finally) grew hair!! She surprised us all by getting CURLY hair! It looks the most curly when she first gets out of the bath. As the day goes on the curls get loose/frizzy.

I told them to hold hands for this pic…I love how it turned out haha.

Lyla calls Kyler "Krackuh and Ryan "Rah Rah". She loves to play with baby dolls. Ryan calls Kyler "Kyker" and Lyla "Lyah". He loves to pretend to clean! Ryan still has the "soft spot" that infants have on their heads. It's getting smaller though (about the width of one finger now…it used to be 3 fingers wide!) It's not a big deal or anything, I just think it's crazy that he still has it.

I had to take a cloth diaper pic on their bday for Alva Baby... It really is the best job. I've been working for them for a year now!

We just had a small family party for them... like we do all birthdays in our home ha. One of these days they'll be begging me for a "real" party with friends, but for now, I'll enjoy them being easy to please while I can!

I tried SO hard to get a good picture of them in their matching pjs. I probably took 50 pictures. Most of them looked like this:

and this:

Dad came to the rescue and ONE of them turned out cute. Which is the one I posted on social media of course. haha.

The kids had fun decorating gingerbread houses:

We spent time with my family on Christmas Eve (went out to dinner and hung out), and went to Jared's family's house on Christmas Day for a nice Christmas Dinner and a cousin gift exchange. I wish I had taken more pictures! I was having too much fun to waste time on my phone though!

We finally got our fence installed! It wasn't the design we wanted (we wanted vinyl privacy fence all the way around, but HOA made us do vinyl privacy in the back and a little wood picket fence on the side, because we are a corner lot). We will get it painted and landscaped in the spring, but for now it's done! We woke up to a white Christmas, and I snapped this picture of our fence on our walk to church Christmas morning:

Jared came to the rescue again getting a cute picture of the kids in their Christmas outfits. I think this was at one of our church Christmas parties, but they wore the same thing to church on Christmas day :)

It's been so nice having a fenced in yard for the kids (and Bauer) to play in! You can see in this picture where the fence transitions to the wood. I don't love that they made us do two different types of fences, but at least it contains our crazies from running in the street, and that's most important!

It has been a busy and fun month. We're ready for 2017 and for new and exciting family adventures! ;)

November

07 December 2016

November started out a bit rough for Ryan. He had croup and woke up one morning struggling to breath! It was one of the scariest mom moments I had ever experienced! We quickly got out our nebulizer and gave him a breathing treatment, but it didn't help so we ended up taking him to the ER.

The Dr. gave him more breathing treatments and some steroids and he was breathing better pretty quickly. Thank goodness!

Jared turned 33 this month! We went to a movie (Arrival) and out to dinner at Shula's.
Most of my pics these days are from my snapchat so thats why they all have the caption :p

Kyler did great in his primary program, and later that week he turned 6 years old!!

We have a tradition of being served your favorite breakfast in bed when it is your birthday, and Kyler chose donuts!

He just wanted a small family party this year with 2 of his cousins. I love that he and Nathan and Joshua are best buddies! We took them to play at Curiosity Museum, and then headed back to our house for cake and a sleepover.

We got him two (used) power wheels for his birthday- so fun!

School is going pretty well for Kyler. He is struggling with reading, but is doing great with math.

These are some of his buddies from school:

We used to walk to school everyday, but now that it's been getting cold we've been driving. Such a pain having to sit in carpool lines.

Kyler's Aunt Meredith came to his class and taught about Native Americans and did a dance!

We hosted Thanksgiving (for the first time ever) this year at our house! 30 people! It was potluck style so we didn't have to do much cooking, and we used all paper products (so classy) so cleanup was easy too!

It's been awhile since we've had a big family picture!
Everyone, but my nephew, Austin, (who is on a mission) was there!

I'll try not to be as late on my December post. but no promises ;)

October 2016

04 November 2016

Oops, I'm a few days late on my October post. This month flew by! ...but doesn't it always?

Let's start at the beginning. Kyler had his first science fair project! He chose to do his project on balloons... because guess what. He's still LOVES balloons.

His class did a mini science fair and sang a few songs for the parents. It was super cute! Daxton and William are probably his favorite buddies in his class.

We soaked up the fall weather with several little walk/hikes, and went to CornBellys with some friends from Jared's work.

Kyler has been begging and begging for "Bob the Builder" pants (overalls) like the twins. I feel like he is too old to wear them, but I know he feels left out sometimes (when the twins match) so I caved.

One of my favorite parts about being a parent is watching the kids' friendship bonds. They all fight with each other (a lot) but they also love each other and these little moments are the best!

RyRy is still a little daddy's boy! He cries when Jared leaves for work, and on days when Jared works from home, Ryan likes to stalk him and stare at him through the crack of the office doors.

We had so many days of perfect weather and ate dinner outside multiple times.

The twins' first time eating spaghetti!

Kyler had a few weeks off school (he's on the year round schedule and this was his "off track" time) ...so we took a road trip! Jared had a business trip in St. George. So, me and the kids tagged along. I love St. George, Utah!

We tried to get a family picture with the timer button, but after too many failed attempts we gave up.

The kids actually slept surprisingly well in the hotels we stayed at!

Our next destination was Albuquerque to visit Jared's sister, Staci, and her kids and go to the Hot Air Balloon Fiesta, but we had a day or two to spare before we needed to be in NM, so we decided it would be fun to stop in the Phoenix area first to see a few friends/family.

Phoenix was hot, but was still so fun! We ended up needing to cut our Phoenix trip short in order to get to Albuquerque sooner than we had planned. I wish we had had more time to play there, but we crammed a lot of fun in a day so it ended up working out okay.

The kids loved playing on this hill in front of our hotel.

We played at this awesome train park with my cousin, went to Fashion Square mall with my old roommate, and then were going to go to a splash pad with my friend Ali and her twins, but ended up just meeting up at her parents house on our way to Albuquerque because we ran out of time.

Lyla and Ryan had a few blowouts in the car on our way to Albuquerque... so that wasn't fun, but we made it safe. The kids LOVED this little wagon at their cousins' house. They literally played with it for hours!

It was so good to see family!  We were only going to stay in NM for a few days, but they asked if we could stay longer... so we did! I'm glad we did. We got to do so many neat things, and bond closer to them. I took my nieces shopping, and we got pedicures. We got to go to Sadie's orchestra concert, Paityn's band performance, and Tragen's soccer game!

The Hot Air Balloon Fiesta was incredible! We ended up going twice! All of Kyler's balloon dreams came true.

When we got back home to Utah, we hit up the pumpkin patch!
I thought this was so funny, and the twins loved it, so I made him do it again...

Then, we tried to take a family picture, but Jared's phone died literally the second before the lady was about to push the button...and of course I had left my phone in the car. So, this random lady offered to take a picture for us on her phone and then text it to me...so we said sure! Thanks kind stranger!

Jared and I have been taking turns watching the kids and going to the temple every month or so. I love that we live so close! We could walk if we wanted! I love this place and recently had some pretty neat experiences inside.

Kyler has been loving Clifford lately.

I asked him what he wanted to be for Halloween and he said Clifford at first. Then a few weeks later when I was buying costumes I asked him again and he responded with "What's Ryan going to be?" I said he's going to be the big bad wolf...and Kyler responded with "Okay, I want to be the big bad wolf too. I want to be the same as Ryan." So, this year we had Little Red Riding Hood and the Little Bad Wolf AND the Big Bad Wolf.

Kyler kept calling Lyla "Little Red Hiding Hood" I thought it was cute :)

Kyler is back to school, and Bauer is back to his job of waiting by the door for his return home everyday.

Jared and I went on a double date to a haunted house. So fun.

On actual Halloween, we stopped by a few family member's houses and then put the twins to bed and took turns taking Kyler around our neighborhood and passing out candy at home. It was a great Halloween! Now, we're back at our gym routine trying to burn off all of the delicious food we ate on our trip and pounds of Halloween candy we are still eating.
