Kyler in Daddy's hand.

My Boys

He is sooooo cute!

Some days his eyes look like they are turning brown, and sometimes they look pure blue.  Who knows?

We just love this little baby!

This week

Kyler had his first bath this week!
He pretty much cried through the whole thing.
Who knew it was so hard to bath a newborn?

Schramma and Schrampa came to visit!

So did Ben and Meredith, and Kyler's cuzies Charley and Gabby!

We also took TONS of pictures of our sweet little boy. Here he is styling the hat, booties and blanket that granny knit for him.

Introducing...Kyler

22 November 2010

The Birth Story:
We were told to arrive at the hospital on Tuesday, November 16th at 5:30am for a scheduled C-Section, because of the baby's breech position.  I was awake practically the entire night before.  I was too excited/nervous to sleep!  The alarm went off at 5:00am, but I was already awake. We grabbed our hospital bags, and were out the door...we couldn't believe it was already time to have our baby!

When we arrived at the hospital, they had me dress into the hospital gown, and then they strapped a few monitors to my belly to check on baby.  They also started an IV to put in fluids before the surgery.  A nursing student tried to put the IV in first.  She was horrible at it.  It felt like she was stabbing a knife through my hand instead of a needle.  Then she broke one of the IV parts, and apologized because she had to start over.  I was thinking, “great, this is real comforting, I am going in for MAJOR surgery today, and my doctor is allowing a student who doesn't even know what she is doing put my IV in.”   Forty-Five minutes later, (honestly no exaggeration) after two people had given up, they found someone that was finally able to get the IV in. Apparently because I was cold, nervous and dehydrated my veins were tiny and that's why they were having a hard time. Because we were now “behind schedule”  they then had to RUSH the 3 bags of fluid in me really fast in order to not be late for the C-section. Did I mention the bags of fluid were freeeezing?? That combined with the fact that I was nervous resulted in my entire body violently shaking.  I was shaking so bad it was hard to breath.

Then, they wheeled me to the surgery room. I was nervous to get the spinal because I was still shaking so bad, and was worried that I would move and mess the spinal block up and get paralyzed….but they put warm blankets all over me first, and waited til the shaking stopped completely.  I was pleasantly surprised that the spinal didn't hurt at all! My body went numb almost immediately.  My nurse hung a curtain over my chest so I couldn't see what was going on.

Next thing I know, Jared was by my side saying “Can you feel that?!”  I had the sensation that someone was touching my stomach, and assumed they were cleaning my belly and preparing it for surgery, but then I heard the doctor say “There’s foot!” Then, Jared snapped this picture of me. Pretty sure I wouldn't be smiling if I had been giving birth naturally with no pain meds haha- I love technology these days!

They had our baby out within 5 minutes of starting the surgery. I got a little squeamish just picturing what was going on the other side of the curtain.  Then, Jared exclaimed: “Oh....wow!” so of course I panicked and asked him what was wrong.  He said that the cord was wrapped around the baby’s neck…TWICE and that he looked a little blue.  So I of course panicked some more, and waited to hear a little cry, but I heard nothing.  Again, more panicking, and my head started to spin. I tried to take a deep breath to calm my nerves down as I stared at the curtain that was hanging in front of my face....then a splatter of blood spewed (nice choice of words right?) and stained the curtain right where my face would have been if the curtain hadn't been there. My nurse told me I looked pale and asked if I needed some medication for nausea. I closed my eyes and nodded my head, still listening for my baby's cry.

I heard them suctioning out his mouth, but he still wasn't making a peep.  I was about to have a nervous break down when I heard a little coughing sound, I thought “Oh! he’s alive!” but they didn't show him to me, they just rushed him to another room.  I wasn't comfortable having my baby in the other room, I wanted to know what was going on, but I really didn't have a choice as I the doctor wasn't done with the surgery. Jared stayed with me and held my hand. Then, I heard that glorious cry from the other room.  It was LOUD. I felt relieved and instantly knew that everything was going to be okay.

Then, they brought our son, Kyler, to us.  We were told he was born at 7:55, and that he was 7lbs 5oz and 20 inches long. Healthy as can be!

Here is our healthy baby boy getting cleaned off. His first picture!
The C-section itself took a total of 30 minutes.  After they were done stitching me up, the doctor told me that everything looked great.  He said that the reason Kyler was breech was because the cord was wrapped twice around his neck, and it was practically just hanging him up there with my low fluid levels.  He said that he was REALLY glad that they didn't try to turn him a few weeks ago from the outside, because it would have resulted in an emergency C-section, and a preemie baby.  He said everything else looked great, and that I can definitely have my next baby naturally provided that the next one isn't breech too. I was happy to hear that.  I had the C-section on Tuesday, and went home Thursday night!

The proud Daddy!

The proud Mommy!

The timing of Kyler’s birth worked out perfectly.  I was able to graduate and complete my internship, and now it's Thanksgiving break so Jared gets to stay home with us all week!  My parents are also here helping out, and I am SO grateful for that.  Recovery from my C-section is going very slow and it’s painful, but everyday I feel better and better.

Today Kyler is 5 days old. He is so stinkin cute and SUCH a good baby. Here are a some pictures of Kyler’s first few days of life:

Our last weekend without any kids!

13 November 2010

Jared woke up at 8:30 to do school work. I, however, slept in until 10. Bauer beat us all though, that mutt didn't get out of bed until NOON! that's gotta be some kind of record. I usually take him on a walk every morning at 8am...but something tells me that he would rather have slept in all of these months.

We spent the most of the day giving our apartment one last deep clean before the baby comes, (we even vacuumed under the couches) Jared also cleaned the car inside and out, and I did FOUR loads of laundry.

Then we went to a movie. We saw Unstoppable... It was pretty good. I mostly liked the fact that it was based on a true story.
We also went to dinner at Sammy's. It was delicious. Hamburgers, fries, shakes...YUM. Tomorrow will be our last day at church without any kids! Jared keeps making fun of me for having a "last time" for everything. Oh well!

Here is my "last" pregnancy picture! lol
39.5 weeks. My belly didn't get as big as I thought it was going to get, but i'm not complaining!

Here is the car seat cover I made. Living in Rexburg where it snows all of the time, this is one of those MUST HAVES.
The outside is a thin cotton polka dot pattern, and the inside is thick, soft, minky brown fabric. I love it!

I also attempted to make a "wipes case". It didn't turn out exactly how I wanted, because my ribbon was really thin and you can see the glue through it, but I still think its cute :)

This week we got our first snow of the year! I actually don't mind it as much as I thought I would.
Bauer looooooves it! Every time we take him outside he goes crazy and prances around and eats mouthfuls of it.
Jared throws snowballs at him, and he gets so confused, because they always disappear! It's pretty funny to watch.

aww man!

My worst fear came true: I can no longer use CocoButter or Olay Quench Body Lotion.

I somehow developed an allergy to them. Probably because I would use them 3+ times a day. hah yeah im obsessed with that stuff.

Think I can make it 3 more days without any belly stretch marks?? eeeek I'm SURE I can feel them coming on.

Guessing Game!

10 November 2010

I love Anne Geddes pictures. My mom has a big Anne Geddes book at home full of adorable baby pictures. My sister and I used to sit and oooo and ahhh over the pages together. The names of the babies were listed below their pictures, and we would pick our favorites and say "oh, that is totally what I'm going to name baby." I wish I could see that book now, I am in dire need of a middle name for our sweet baby boy.

Just for fun, our family always has a "guessing game" to see who guesses the baby's stats the closest. Since there are only 6 more days until the big day....here are my guesses:

Length: 19 inches
Weight: 8lbs 14 oz
Eye color after the newborn blue/gray phase is over: Blue
Hair color: Dark brown, and a head full of it!

What are your guesses?

Time flies when you are....busy.

06 November 2010

It has been a very busy last 2 weeks at the Antczak manor. Our poor puppy got sick, and we had to take him to the vet. He had a cough. Which might sound like nothing, but dogs don't just "get coughs" like humans do. We have no idea where he got it from, but we know it is contagious, because our neighbor's dog has the same cough now. Bauer is doing much better now that the antibiotics have kicked in. Here is the pooch styling his dollar store Halloween costume on the animal hospital table:

This week, I COMPLETED my internship!! It feels SO good to have it done. Here is me styling my preschool Halloween costume. Jared painted the shirt! He's so talented :) Our Preschool Halloween party wasn't on Halloween, and I felt stupid posing outside with all the neighbors watching, so I made Bauer sit next to me with a hat on, so I wouldn't be the only weird one :p

Did you notice how big my belly is now? That either has to do with the insane amount of Halloween candy and snacks and treats I have eaten these last few weeks, or it may have something to do with the fact that i'm officially FULL TERM now! whooo! but seriously, I wasnt kidding about the Halloween treats... This is just one of the many "snack plates" I enjoyed this week at preschool.

The Antczak Fam... how presh! Jared is styling his "Madison Memorial Hospital volunteer uniform" oww OWWW. My hubby is HAWWT :)
We had some friends over last week to carve pumpkins. Here is Ben and Kristen and their dog Koda.

us and Bow of course! I hollowed out the pumpkin, and left the carving part to Jared and his mad skillz.

Josh, Carley, Sophia and their dog Sadie.

Brint and Brittnee, and their dog Diesel (Bauer's brother)

And our fabulous pumpkins. Jealous of my Picasa photo collage? I'm pretty talented.

Here is just a random pic I took last week. Bauer thinks that he doesn't have enough toys inside, so he loves to sneak things into the house from outside. sticks, pine-cones, trash, rocks, broken sprinkler heads, leaves...ect I came into the living room to find this lovely mess:
How did he manage to sneak that huge stick in the house? I dont know.

Jared put Bauer in the baby's crib...and of course Bauer was TERRIFIED of it. This pic makes me laugh.

Welp, there are 10 more days until the baby comes! I have SO many things I still need to get done. Let's just hope these next 10 days go by just as fast as the past few have been going. :)
